that must be taken to ensure that all of your transitions, effects, titles, etc are preserved during the round-trip to color correction and back again. In this tutorial we will step you through everything you need to do…
It’s always best to duplicate your project when prepping it for color correction. Add the ending ‘For C3′ onto your copy. This way if you make any mistakes, you can always revert back to the original.
Titles need to be removed or else they too will be color corrected. Once we return your color corrected project, you can easily add them back in.
We want everything on a single track for color correction. To do this hold alt shift as you move tracks down to ensure they stay in sync. double check once you are done by going to Sequence >> Delete Tracks >> Video Tracks, to ensure everything is on a single track.
Remove All Filters that are not FCP ’3-Way Filter’ – These filters will not transfer to Color and need to be removed. Otherwise images will end up being ‘double corrected’ which will result in an extreme/ exaggerated version of the look you want.
Speed change filters are not handled well in Color so the best technique is to ‘Bake’ these shots- which basically means we export a clip that combines the shot and filter into a single clip. We then import this new clip back into the project and substitute it for the old one.
We only accept COPIES of your project files. Please do not send us originals. This way, you always have a back-up.
